Website terms of use

The terms for using vellier.co.uk, its free tools and the try-it demos. Using Vellier itself is covered by the Vellier Terms of Service.

Last updated Monday 19 October 2026

These terms apply when you use vellier.co.uk (this website), including its free tools and the try-it demos. By using the website you accept them. If you don't, please don't use it.

1. Who we are

1.1 This website is run by Vellier Systems, 5 Airfield Lane, Kirknewton, EH27 8EH. You can contact us at [email protected].

1.2 In these terms "we" and "us" means Vellier Systems, and "you" means the person using the website.

2. Using Vellier itself is covered by other terms

2.1 This website tells you about Vellier. If you sign up for a Vellier account, the Vellier Terms of Service, the Data Processing Agreement and the acceptable use policy apply to that account, and they take priority over these terms.

2.2 Vellier is for businesses, not consumers.

2.3 Two clauses of the Vellier Terms of Service are worth knowing before you sign up. They say:

3.5 Market data. You agree that Vellier may use job and pricing information from your account (such as job type, size, location to postcode district, quoted and final prices, inclusions, materials and time) to create anonymised, combined statistics, including market price ranges, cost guides and benchmarks ("Market Data"). Before using it, Vellier removes all personal data, including your clients' names and addresses. Market Data never identifies you, your staff or your clients, and Vellier only publishes a figure when it is built from enough jobs and enough businesses that no single business or job can be identified. Market Data is based only on completed or past jobs, never on live quotes or future pricing. Vellier owns Market Data and may use it in Vellier, publish it, and license it to others. This is a condition of using Vellier and cannot be switched off; it supports a fairer market with transparent prices. Market Data already created stays in Vellier's statistics after you leave.

3.6 Quote comparisons by clients. Where a client uploads quotes from other businesses to compare them, those quotes belong to the client. Vellier never shows them to you or to other businesses, and never uses them in Market Data.

3. The information on this website

3.1 We work hard to keep the website accurate, but it's general information, not advice. Features, plans and prices can change. What applies to you is what's in your Vellier account and the Terms of Service when you sign up.

3.2 Prices. Vellier's own prices are those published on our pricing page on the day. Until they're published, the website doesn't quote any.

3.3 Other companies' prices. The switching cost calculator shows other systems' public list prices on the date stated beside them, with a link to where each came from. They're estimates of list prices for comparison only, not offers from those companies, and they change. Check with the company before you rely on them. Vellier isn't connected with any of the companies named, and their trademarks belong to them.

3.4 Cost guides. The cost guides show price ranges worked out from anonymised, completed jobs priced by firms using Vellier, only once enough firms are behind a figure. They're a rough guide, not a quote. A real job can cost more or less depending on its size, condition, access and location.

3.5 Import guides. The steps for exporting from other systems were correct on the date shown on each guide. Other companies change their menus, so they may move.

3.6 Roadmap. Anything on our roadmap is what we're working on, not a promise of a feature or a date.

4. The try-it demos

4.1 The demos are sample companies with made-up data, shared by everyone who opens them and wiped every night. They're for trying Vellier out and nothing else.

4.2 When you use a demo you must follow the demo acceptable use policy. In short: don't type in real people's details, don't try to break or overload it, and don't use it for anything real.

4.3 We may close a demo, reset it early or block anyone misusing it, at any time and without notice.

4.4 Nothing you do in a demo is kept. Don't rely on it to store anything.

5. The forms

5.1 When you register interest, apply to be a tester or ask for a demo call, please give accurate details. Applying doesn't guarantee a place in the testing group; we choose a mix of businesses.

5.2 What we do with your details is explained in our website privacy policy.

6. What you mustn't do

You mustn't:

  • use the website in a way that breaks the law or harms anyone
  • try to get into parts of the website, the demos or our systems you're not meant to, or test their security without our written permission (if you find a problem, please tell us)
  • send viruses or anything harmful, or overload the website or the forms
  • copy large parts of the website, or collect information from it automatically, to build a competing product or data set
  • pretend to be someone else, or suggest we endorse you when we don't

7. Our content

7.1 The website's words, design, pictures, the Vellier name and logo belong to us or the people who licensed them to us.

7.2 You may view and print pages for your own use, and share links. You may not copy or reuse our content for commercial purposes without our written permission.

We link to other websites (for example the sources of competitor prices and regulators' guidance). We don't control them and aren't responsible for them.

9. Availability

The website is free to use. We don't promise it will always be available or free from errors, and we may change or take down any part of it.

10. Our responsibility to you

10.1 Nothing in these terms limits our liability for death or personal injury caused by our negligence, for fraud, or for anything else the law doesn't allow us to limit.

10.2 Because the website is free general information, we're not responsible for any loss of profit, revenue, business or data, or any indirect loss, arising from using it or relying on it.

10.3 If you're a consumer, you have legal rights that these terms don't affect.

11. Changes

We may update these terms. The date at the top shows when they last changed. Please check them when you use the website.

12. Law

These terms are governed by the law of Scotland, and the Scottish courts deal with any dispute. If you're a consumer living elsewhere in the UK, you may also bring proceedings where you live.
